PRIMARY PURPOSE: To administer company-wide leaves of absences (LOA) including, but not limited to, FMLA, medical leaves, personal leaves, short-term and long-term disability, and ADAAA activity. To coordinate the support and successful disposition for all leave of absence cases by coordinating with absence management, management, CR business partners, benefits, payroll and the colleague. To effectively monitor all cases/claims to include general administration, comprehensive case management and program compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act and all related employment laws.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serves as the subject matter expert for the leave programs in alignment and under the general direction and guidance of CR leadership and the legal department.
- Interprets and administers leave programs and policies in accordance with the applicable federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, USERRA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, etc.
- Works with leave administrators in all aspects of leave programs. Provides extensive case management and coordinates administrative aspects of the cases and claims.
- Conducts/coordinates investigations into the different issues that arise as a result of the leave process.
- Works closely with the CR service center and payroll to ensure that pay for associates is accurate and correct.
- Conducts tier I investigations of alleged fraudulent activity of all leave. Works closely with the employee relations team to identify, research and resolve matters.
- Produces and manages reporting metrics and analytics for all leave cases and workers’ compensation claims. Presents reports as requested.
- Partners closely with all CR business partners on all leave cases. Meets regularly with CRBPs to review claims’ status and develops strategies for resolution.
- Responsible for all aspects and the coordination of the full-cycle leave of absence process from initial employee contact to return-to-work on-boarding and leave end.
- Ensures the coordination of all company leave programs, handles the interactive processes, and communicates employee relations issues pertaining to programs.
- Assists in the creation and facilitation of leave administration and workers’ compensation training programs.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Supports the organization's quality program(s).
- Travels as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Licensing
Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources or related field from an accredited college or university preferred.
Experience
Five (5) years’ experience managing complex, high-risk and sensitive multi-state leave administration and coordination of the full-cycle leave of absence process from initial employee contact to return-to-work on-boarding and leave end including experience in a Colleague Resources generalist capacity, specifically demonstrating a working knowledge of employee relations practices and laws or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of applicable federal and state employment laws, such as federal FMLA and state specific leaves and ADAAA
- Demonstrated ability to maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data for all leave and disability pay; “Current” pay cycle knowledge a plus
- Knowledge of employee benefits practices with a concentration on disability, FMLA, claim administration, and/or medical management related discipline
