Location: Canton, NY with travel to surrounding locations in Gouverneur, Massena and Potsdam, NY
Hours Per Week: Per Diem
Schedule: 8-hour days
SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Occupational Health Manager, the Occupational Health Specialist will assist with health information collection and review for new/established employees, volunteers, students and contract personnel as well as the administration of required immunizations, drug screens or lab work across the health system.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Health assessment, information collection and review, immunization administration, phlebotomy and urine drug screening
Event investigation, report development,
Data entry, health file development and maintenance
Implementation of policies, special projects

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Degree
New York State Registered Nurse license
Required Certification/Licensure
Current BLS certification
Minimum 3 years’ acute care experience as a Registered Nurse
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous experience in a physician office or occupational health setting in a healthcare organization.
Immunization administration experience
Bachelor’s degree or currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program
Comfortable working knowledge with computer systems, inputting data, spreadsheets
Critical thinking and strong organizational skills.
Excellent oral/written communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while interacting effectively with other members of a diverse team.
Preferred: knowledge of Workers Compensation, FMLA, Disability and OSHA.
Ability to assess a person’s fitness to perform duties as defined in the job description
Ability to handle multiple concurrent situations.
Strong time management skills, punctuality and dependability
Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for variable periods of time.
Standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting up to 25 pounds.
Close visual acuity, read charts, analyze and prepare data, viewing a computer screen, dials, equipment settings, literature and other
printed or handwritten materials.Work with equipment and manipulate equipment settings, computer keyboard, etc.
Individual may be required to work non-standard shifts as needed (weekend, evenings, swing shift, or some combination).
Travel may be required to all St. Lawrence Health facilities and clinics
