Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Company seeks a Real-Time Software Engineer to join the Phantom Works Advanced Weapons software team in St. Charles, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.  The Phantom Works Advanced Weapons Software Team develops software for groundbreaking weapon systems, including hypersonic and advanced precision weapons.

Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels, including Experienced and Senior Level Real-Time Software Engineers.

The Software Engineer will work with a multifaceted engineering team to design, develop, and deploy operational flight software on precision-guided advanced weapon systems. The selected engineer will perform software leadership and engineering activities in all phases of the software development lifecycle to implement real-time embedded software applications for guidance, navigation, and mission management. The position requires experience with the agile processes and lifecycle management tools and can serve as an agile mentor and coach for the team.

The Advanced Weapons software team develops and maintains the Operational Flight Programming (OFP) software and other real-time embedded software products that fulfill the mission processing functionality of the weapon systems. The OFP software is written in C/C++ with an emphasis on open architectures, and the team performs development using the agile methodology and the Secure Digital Transformation Environment tool stack (Gitlab, Artifactory).

Position Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a multi-discipline engineering team to build and implement Operational Flight Program software solutions.

  • Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle in an Agile development environment.

  • Lead requirements development and interface definitions

  • Lead software architecture trade studies and modifications to meet new requirements.

  • Develop solutions using C/C++, C#, and Python.

  • Test your software and assist system level testing to verify accurate software functionality.

  • Analyze problem reports and solve software defects.

  • Develop leadership skills and experience.

  • Perform guiding and mentorship of junior software engineers

  • Opportunity to work directly with United States Air Force customers.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.  An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry, or other technical degree.

  • 5 or more years of experience with developing software using Object Oriented principles.

  • 3 or more years of experience with development or real-time software or integration of embedded software onto hardware.

  • 3 or more years of experience leading a software development project or team.

  • Experience with C/C++, Python, or C#.
