Description
The Department of Religious Studies invites applications for a two-year Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship in Asian Religions beginning Fall 2026. Eligible candidates must have received their terminal degree between 2023 and summer of 2026. Research and teaching interests might include, but are not limited to: religions of Tibet, South Asia and/or East Asia. The annual teaching load for the Fellow is two courses per year (one per semester). Possible teaching areas include Hindu or Buddhist traditions, gender studies, transnational studies, material culture, ethnography or other courses that would contribute to the regular curriculum of the Religious Studies Department. The Fellow also will be expected to share their research with the Grinnell community and to be a contributing member of the Religious Studies Department faculty. Eligible candidates must have received their terminal degree between 2023 and summer of 2026.

In letters of application, candidates should discuss their interest in developing as a teacher and scholar in a highly selective undergraduate liberal arts college that emphasizes close student-faculty interaction. They should also discuss their potential to contribute to a college community that maintains a diversity of people and perspectives as one of its core values.
