Job Title: Radiology and Ultrasound Technologist

Department: Radiology

Reports To: Radiology Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Hours: 40/week 

Shift: Days, with a rotating call schedule

WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR FCMC

Our Radiology and Ultrasound Technologists perform specialized exams under the supervision of a Radiologist to diagnose, treat, and care for our patients. These imaging exams range from different ultrasounds, such as OBGYN or vascular ultrasounds, to diagnostic radiographs. More specifically, some of the Radiology and Ultrasound Technologists’ vital responsibilities include:

  • Performing diagnostic radiographs or ultrasounds as ordered 
  • Assisting Radiologists with complicated ultrasound or radiographic examinations, including biopsies and arthrograms 
  • Producing high quality films for Radiologists to evaluate; maintaining a high degree of accuracy in ultrasound imaging, radiology positioning, and exposure technique 
  • Performing quality control functions related to radiology and ultrasound
  • Assisting in compiling and maintaining statistical data
  • Ensuring patient comfort and privacy and educating the patient regarding the exam
  • Serving as the primary liaison between patients and Radiologists or other members of the support team 
  • Completing documentation
  • Applying professional and ethical judgment and critical thinking
  • Participating in continuing education and learning experiences to enhance and maintain current knowledge and skills 


Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a two-year Radiology program from an accredited institution
  • Completion of a one- or two-year Sonography or Ultrasound Technology certification from an accredited institution 
  • Valid ARDMS, RDCS, or RVT registration as required by state law
  • Valid state radiology registration as required by state law 
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology 
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
  • Able to communicate well both verbally and in writing 
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Detail-oriented and able to work as a team member
  • Willing to participate in 24 Continuing Education Units every two years


Essential Job Functions:

  • Regular and predictable attendance is required
  • Regularly required to move or lift between 50-100 pounds using proper body mechanics
  • Regularly required to stand for long periods with frequent squatting, twisting, bending, kneeling, and reaching to prepare equipment, materials, or objects
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor coordination is required
  • Must be able to work in a high-stress environment 
  • Must comply with HIPAA and patient privacy
  • Must wear PPE as situations require
