Senior Inter-DC Supply Planner

Role Summary

The Senior Inter-DC Supply Planner is responsible for optimizing inventory movements between distribution centers (DCs) within a multi-node supply chain network. This role plays a critical part in ensuring regional product availability, reducing transfer costs, and meeting service level targets. The planner will proactively manage inventory rebalancing strategies, collaborate cross-functionally to align with demand and logistics constraints, and drive process improvements through analytics and system enhancements.

Main Tasks

• Analyze inventory levels across DCs to identify imbalances and determine optimal lateral transfer plans.

• Execute inter-DC movements that align with transportation capacity and minimize fulfillment latency.

• Collaborate with Demand Planning and Operations teams to maintain inventory balance based on forecasts, lead times, and inventory turns.

• Support seasonal initiatives, product launches, and promotional campaigns with strategic inventory positioning.

• Partner with logistics, fulfillment, and systems teams to align transfers with transportation modes (TL, LTL, rail) and service level agreements (SLAs).

• Monitor and report weekly metrics including in-transit inventory, fill rate impact, and capacity constraints.

• Build dashboards and visualizations to track network health and inventory risks.

• Lead or support automation projects that enhance forecasting accuracy and reduce manual planning tasks.

• Provide recommendations on system and tool enhancements related to inventory balancing and replenishment logic.

Your Profile

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field.

• 5–8+ years of experience in supply chain planning, network planning, or inventory management.

• Strong understanding of multi-node distribution networks and inter-DC transfer dynamics.

• Experience using advanced planning tools such as SAP APO, SAP IBP, GAINS, Yonder, Kinaxis, or Oracle SCP.

Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Experience with cross-functional collaboration across demand planning, logistics, and operations.

• Familiarity with transportation constraints and optimization principles.

• Ability to build and interpret data visualizations and planning dashboards.

Preferred Skills:

• Automotive aftermarket or Tier 1 OEM supply chain experience.

• APICS CPIM or CSCP certification.

• Background in vendor-managed inventory (VMI), Advanced Shipping Notice (ASN), or Just-in-Time (JIT) environments.

• Exposure to manufacturing and logistics-based supply chains.
