About the role

Description

Stony Brook University is experiencing significant growth across its healthcare system, including the expansion of integrated behavioral health services within our adult outpatient psychiatry program.  We are seeking a motivated and skilled Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our Integrated Care team. This role is central to our efforts to bridge the gap between physical and mental health care and to improve outcomes for a diverse adult population with complex and co-occurring medical and psychiatric needs.

This NP will work closely within a multidisciplinary care team, providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, brief interventions, and care coordination.  The ideal candidate will have experience or a strong interest in integrated care models, including collaboration with primary care providers and medical teams to deliver whole-person, patient-centered care.

This position also plays a key role in improving access to timely psychiatric services, particularly for women in the perinatal period and other vulnerable populations.

Schedule:  Full-Time schedule totaling forty hours per week, including the possibility of evening hours; 50-100% of appointments/work via telehealth.  *Please note, the telemedicine policy could be subject to change by Stony Brook University and Stony Brook Hospital if needed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Nursing.  Graduate of an accredited Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner program.  Nurse Practitioner Certification in Psychiatry.  ANCC Board Certified.  Valid New York State license as a PMHNP.

Preferred Qualifications:

Clinical experience in an Adult Psychiatry Outpatient Program.  Five (5) years clinical experience in an Adult Psychiatry Outpatient Program.  Buprenorphine Waiver.  Experience providing Supportive Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing to Adult Patients.  One (1) year experience in telepsychiatry.  Experience in treating women with psychiatric conditions in the perinatal period.
