The Work You Will Do:
Passenger Operations Specialist III
The Passenger Operations Specialist III is also known as a Transit Project Coordinator. This position is part of the District One transit team which is made up of 3 Transit Project Coordinators and 1 transit support persons. As a team, we manage, coordinate, and partner with Urban and Rural Transit agencies, as well as multiple non-profit or specialty agencies who serve specific clients.
The selected applicant would be a Transit Projects Coordinator working in the Bartow Office. If selected, the main project responsibilities would be to represent the Florida Department of Transportation (Department) for various transit agency safety and compliance inspections, review grant applications, manage state and federal funding, sit on various advisory boards, and provide technical assistance and guidance to our partners. Transit Projects Coordinators must also pay invoices and be able to withstand a financial audit. The transit team is involved in other interesting projects and studies, coordination with regional Planning Organizations, agency vehicle inventories, presentations for grant workshops, and other audits.
Candidates will acquire most knowledge from on-the-job training. However, the following skill sets are desired for this position: organizational skills, attention to detail, multi-tasking abilities, works well with others, self-motivated, strong communication skills, the ability to understand and interpret Federal and State regulations, and a comfort with managing contracts and ongoing projects.
