Come join our team as a Senior Finance Analyst to support our growing portfolio of work with utilities across the Midwest, West, and Canada. You will be responsible for supporting project reviews, performance tracking, client deliverables, budget management, forecasting and pricing. Working closely with the Director of Operations & Finance, our Finance Manager, and our Program Managers, you’ll focus on bringing energy efficiency and bill savings to all customers including under-served communities, providing safer, more energy-efficient homes, and ensuring grid stability.

What you will be doing

  • Monitor the financial performance of contracts: run rates, profitability analysis, budget variance; prepare monthly forecasts for large energy efficiency/DSM portfolios and projects

  • Prepare and update client-facing and internal forecasts, variance reports, and various ad hoc financial reports on a regular basis

  • Meet with clients, internal Project Mangers, and Senior Leaders on a monthly and ad-hoc basis to review budgets, spending, forecasts, and variances

  • Manage various invoicing processes, perform QA reviews with Project Managers, and submit for client approval. Coordinate with various teams to ensure all invoices are processed timely and free of omissions and errors.

  • Generate accurate and polished deliverables for all regulatory filings, reports, and presentations, and coordinate with Program Managers for final inputs and approvals

  • Coordinate with program managers to develop and maintain portfolio-level performance forecasts and trend analysis

  • Track contractual Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and coordinate with the Portfolio Manager on any necessary corrective action plans

What we need you to have

  • 5+ years of experience developing, designing, or administering successful financial processes, reports, and/or tools.

  • Experience with Financial accounting systems, such as Costpoint, Hyperion, SAP, Oracle, or similar.

  • Experience with business intelligence software, such as Cognos, PowerBI, Alteryx, Python, or similar.

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel (or similar spreadsheet software) including basic formulas, equations, functions, and pivot tables.

  • Experience with other applications, such as M365, Google Suite, or similar.

What would be useful

  • Bachelor’s Degree; preferably in Finance/Accounting/Economics or related field.

  • Experience managing financials for consulting projects for utilities, state energy offices, state/local governments, and/or regional non-profits.

  • Experience writing macros or VBA in Excel.

  • Advanced analytical skills and experience with Power BI (or similar data visualization tool).

  • Knowledge of the utility and energy efficiency, demand response, and distributed energy resource programs and markets.

  • Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information.
