Requirements

The Specimen Collector for the Infectious Diseases Clinical Trials Unit will work with and assist the Clinical Research Coordinator, Regulatory Specialist, and Clinical Trial Manager by collecting patient specimens, processing the specimens, and entering data into clinical trial sponsor system. The incumbent will work with the Clinical Trial Coordinator and Financial Administrator to ensure data between Georgetown GMS and clinical trial sponsors match. Escalating necessary issues, the Specimen Collector has additional responsibilities that include:

  • Develop an understanding of research processes and how specimen collection and data submission fits into those processes from a clinical research perspective.

  • Partner with clinical staff to help with the regulatory requirements of specimen collection and data submission.

  • Create and document instructions for complex tasks so that others may use as a guideline in the future, assisting with the creation of user training materials.

  • Document specimen collection and data submission processes, as needed, verifying that recommended solutions align with research requirements.

  • Effectively communicate with customers, internal resources, and support teams to ensure objectives are met.

  • Collaborate with clinical and research resources to identify and develop process improvements.

  • Participates in cross functional teams to gather clinical and research needs in order to identify effective solutions to the specimen collection process.


Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field with a year of related work experience

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word office required; Experience with Workday a plus

  • Ability to communicate effectively and have the capacity to interact with a diverse community

  • Attention to detail with the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Previous work in clinical specimen collection and data submission role and the ability to create and document procedures for training materials

  • Excellent problem-solving & communication skills

  • General knowledge of clinical research


Working Conditions: Office setting. Sedentary.
Salary and Benefits: $40 per hour, for approximately 20 hours a week.

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$22.88 - $42.10

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
