SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST (SLP-CCC or CFY)
 

 

POSITION SUMMARY: To provide appropriate speech and language evaluations, services, and interventions to students and consultation services to parents and educational staff

 

REPORTS TO:  Director and Assistant Director of Special Education and Building Administrators

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 
  1. Maine Speech Pathologist Certification and Licensure (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree with Department of Education certification in Speech (#293) State License

  2. Strong Clinical Fellows are encouraged to apply

  3. Ability to communicate and cooperate with students, community and school personnel.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 
  1. Provides appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual needs of students with speech/language impairments.

  2. Assists and guides teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech/language impairments.

  3. Provides a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech, voice, fluency and language impairments.

  4. Assists in screening to identify children with speech/language impairments.

  5. Provides information and support to parents and families when appropriate.

  6. Serves as a consultant to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning speech/language.

  7. Keeps thorough ongoing records for the individual student receiving speech/language services.  This also includes keeping IEP files up to date.

  8. Develops and implements appropriate Individualized Education Plans for identified students. 

  9. Participates in student teams, special services staff meetings (building and district level), IEP meetings, and other meetings as requested by the Director of Special Services.  This includes chairing IEP team meetings and student team meetings and following all required procedures.

  10. Assumes primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment and supplies.

  11. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibility as may be assigned from time to time.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary, work year, and working conditions to be established by the RSU 57 School Board.
