Role Overview
The Senior Director of Technology Partnerships will lead strategic technology vendor partnerships and ecosystem strategy across BNY, aligning Engineering, Client Coverage, SPIN, ESO, and Finance stakeholders to deliver innovation outcomes, governance integration, decision acceleration, and measurable cost efficiencies. The role drives execution on strategic technology partner alignment, relationship enablement, governance and sourcing integration, innovation pipeline development, and executive engagement—while advancing multi-horizon technology planning and vendor performance management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Partner Alignment – Define, maintain and evolve the prioritized vendor list; establish executive sponsor expectations and engagement frameworks; ensure transparent metadata (ESO, tech domain, ownership) and timely circulation of executive-ready reports. Partner with Client Coverage for a One BNY approach.
  • Vendor Relationship Management – Define the framework alongside ESO and ensure delivery of “ways of working” with priority vendors, including recurring governance forums, standing meetings, and standardized engagement models.
  • Performance Management - Partner with ESO, Procurement, Legal, and Engineering to integrate sourcing workflows and governance cadence; reinforce vendor oversight frameworks across data and engineering. In partnership with ESO and Finance, design and execute strategies to improve vendor performance and cost base through consolidation, commercial optimization, and scope alignment.
  • Innovation and Emerging Technology – Collaborate with SPIN and domain leaders to build and manage a selective pipeline of emerging technologies; evaluate and prioritize pilots across vendors and prospects. Define criteria, scorecards, and timelines for vendor evaluations; drive discovery/build decisions and remove roadblocks to accelerate adoption where value is proven. Build a forward-looking, multi-horizon plan across fintech and broader technology ecosystems to inform partnerships, investments, and internal capability building.

Qualifications

  • 15 plus years in technology vendor management, partnerships, sourcing, or technology strategy within large enterprises.
  • Excellent executive presence, communication, and stakeholder management; comfortable leading EBCs and senior leadership sessions.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional vendor initiatives with Engineering, Finance, ESO/Procurement, Legal, and CIO stakeholders.
  • Experience building innovation pipelines and executing pilots across emerging technologies; familiarity with cloud, data/AI, developer tools, and enterprise software ecosystems.
  • Strong governance acumen: able to integrate sourcing processes, establish oversight cadences, and enforce engagement standards.
  • Proven ability to accelerate decisions via structured evaluation frameworks, scorecards, and executive-ready materials.
  • Track record of delivering measurable savings and performance improvements through consolidation and commercial optimization.
  • Analytical rigor and program management skills: OKR planning and tracking, benefits realization, and risk/issue management.
  • Preferred: Financial services experience; exposure to multi-horizon technology planning and ecosystem investment strategy.
