The UNIX Services Systems Analyst position within Unix Services – Engineering is responsible for the evaluation, installation, configuration, and support of UNIX Operating System platforms at International Paper. The position provides expert technical consulting in the areas of OS operation, server architecture, and disaster recovery architecture. The Technical Services group is responsible for the availability and performance of systems, providing customers with a high performance, stable, secure, and recoverable OS environment for all applications.
This position reports to the UNIX Services – Operations Manager
The Job You Will Perform:

Support Linux (Oracle and Red Hat) servers both physical and virtual in a high performance/high availability environment. Candidate will also be able to learn and work with other UNIX systems, such as Solaris and AIX operating systems.

Install and assist with the installation of software required for the end-use application.

Troubleshoot and fix problems with servers, users, software, and connectivity.

Work with other IT Groups to interface these systems as required to the existing infrastructure and network.

Engineer Linux infrastructure solutions.

Shared responsibility for support of all of these servers, including 24X7 on-call support on a rotated basis.

Scope:
Current environment consists of 1,000+ servers running Solaris, AIX, and Linux. The server platforms provide a consistent, secure, and recoverable environment for applications such as SAP, Oracle Database, Spectrum Project, Kiwiplan, Ansible, and others. This position has no budget responsibilities or personnel reporting responsibilities.
The Skills You Will Bring:

Bachelor or Technical degree, or equivalent experience.

Thorough understanding of large-scale Oracle/Linux, Red Hat/Linux, and an opportunity to learn other Operating Systems such as Solaris and AIX

In-depth knowledge of performance, configuration and monitoring

Understanding of UNIX, AIX, Veritas Infoscale, EMC SRDF, SAP, Azure environments or Oracle Database are a plus.
