We are looking for Software Development Manager (SDM) to lead the team and the technical vision for innovative solutions managing and securing access to Amazon's resources. As a leader of the team, you will own the team roadmap, the architecture and vision for the products and you will provide hands on technical leadership to the team. You will have the opportunity to learn about various Amazon businesses and technologies. You’ll work with data scientists, security engineers, and other software development engineers across multiple teams to develop innovative security solutions at massive scale. Our services protect the cloud for all customers and preserves our customers’ trust in us. You’ll get to use the full power and breadth of technologies to build services that proactively protect every single customer, both internally and externally, from security threats – not many teams can say that!

Arlington, VA, USA | Baltimore, MD, USA
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
