Job Description

The Service Center Laboratory Technician is responsible for pick-up, delivery, and acceptance and distribution of samples to primary laboratory as well as analysis of short hold samples at the service center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Service Center Technician responsibilities

• Interact with Project Managers and clients appropriately and professionally, in-person, via email, and over the phone.
• Receive and sign the Chain of Custody.
• Ensure that client signs, dates, and records time on the Chain of Custody when releasing samples.
• Inspect samples for damage or violated hold times to maintain sample integrity.
• Repack samples in coolers for shipping down to main Tustin lab.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs coolers for shipping.
• Prepare bottle orders for clients.
• Maintain the shipping/receiving area to ensure a safe work environment.
• This position may occasionally include sample pickups. Clean driving record required.

Laboratory Technician responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze environmental samples using standard analytical techniques according to scientific and EPA methodology in compliance with Eurofins Quality Assurance programs and SOPs.
• Prepare samples using standard techniques
• Perform chemical analysis using standard techniques
• Calculate data
• Record and report data and any unusual test occurrences to the supervisor
• Perform routine instrument maintenance
• Responsible for performing job functions in compliance with Eurofins EHS and QA standards
• Dispose of samples according to guidelines to remain in compliance with EPA and EHS requirements.
• Responsible for general housekeeping in the work area
• Able to become trained and competent on complex instrumentation including but not limited to ion chromatography and UV-Vis, plus instrument-specific data systems.
• Work under close supervision using routine and standard methods
• Aliquot and weigh samples
• Wash glassware

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in STEM field preferred
• Valid driver’s license
• Must be able to operate a motor vehicle as part of the job requirements.
• Strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
• Ability to understand and follow laboratory safety and quality protocols.
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
• Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English

Additional Information

The position is full-time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. -  5:00 p.m., with flexibility of overtime and to change shift to meet business needs.  Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of West Sacramento, CA are encouraged to apply.

Compensation range: $18 - $22 per hour depending on experience. Position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime pay.
