As a Senior Associate Network Engineer, you’ll deliver highly available, scalable, and diverse network infrastructure to facilitate key business functions at Discover. At the corner of our industry’s best practices and an automation security-first mindset, lies your project work. You’ll leverage both to ensure we deliver data quickly and securely. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.
Responsibilities
- Ability to identify, prioritize, and resolve vulnerability items of varying severity via network devices configuration.
- Track network hardware and software licenses, maintenance licenses, reconcile with vendor(s), and maintain an up-to-date inventory across the network infrastructure.
- Track and maintain physical network device inventory across all data centers and maintaining a healthy spares inventory in times of need.
- Seek and establish automated processes and improve existing procedures with tracking vulnerabilities and inventory management.
- Ability to resolve basic vulnerabilities items via network devices configuration.
- Skill and aptitude to build out remediation plans with detailed scope for device/product family of network devices.
- Build Standard Operating Procedure documents to have cross functional teams support remediation efforts.
- Executes increasing variety of user stories with different contexts across the different stages of the product lifecycle
- Uses automation, system tools, open-source solutions, observability and 'security first' principles in daily work
- Contributes to team agile ceremonies, leads demos and presentations, helps new engineers learn established norms
- Comfortably implements solutions using automation, observability and security principles
- Engages in adoption of new technology
- Continues professional education; learns key product capabilities and has desire to learn higher levels of craftsmanship in day-to-day engineering tasks
Minimum Qualifications
At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:
- Bachelors – Computer Science or related
- 1+ Years – (Software) Engineering, DevOps or related
- Internal applicants only: technical proficiency rating of advanced beginner on the Dreyfus engineering scale
Preferred Qualifications
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Basic understanding of networking concepts like the OSI model, switching, and routing
- Solid concept of network security and its principles.
- Knowledge of a scripting language like Python
- Knowledge of Ansible would be appreciated.
- Strong communication skills.
- Good negotiation skills.
- Innovative mindset to generate new solutions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong analytical skills.
- CCNA Certification.
- Great personality that can work across multiple parties and disciplines.

Compensation:
The base pay for this position generally ranges between $70,000.00 to $118,400.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.Benefits:
