Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineering Manager to lead and mentor our data engineering team of 6-8 data engineers. This role is crucial for scaling our data platform, establishing best practices, and ensuring we can deliver on the data needs of our business. You will be a hands-on leader, combining deep technical expertise with strong people management skills to drive our data strategy forward.
The position is open in a data engineering team that is responsible for processing Claims, Revenue, and Medicare Specific files and data from 30+ payors into our Data Warehouse.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Management:
Lead, mentor, and grow a team of talented data engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Manage the hiring, training, and professional development of team members.
Conduct performance reviews, provide regular feedback, and guide career paths.
Technical Strategy & Execution:
Own the technical vision and roadmap for our data platform, ensuring it aligns with business objectives and scales with company growth.
Lead the design, development, and maintenance of robust, scalable, and reliable data pipelines and data warehouses.
Drive best practices in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data governance.
Oversee the implementation of new data technologies and architectures.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with product managers, data scientists, analysts, and other engineering teams to understand data needs and deliver effective solutions.
Translate complex business requirements into clear, actionable technical plans.
Communicate technical concepts and project progress to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Operational Excellence:
Ensure the data platform meets our standards for performance, security, and data quality.
Establish and maintain a culture of operational excellence, including monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
Manage and optimize data infrastructure costs.
Required Qualifications
7+ years' experience in Data Engineering.
5+ years in a technical leadership or management role, building and leading high-performing data engineering teams.
5+ years' experience with modern data technologies, including: Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP); Big data frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark, Hadoop); Data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery) and Workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Dagster).
5+ years' experience with SQL, Python, PySpark.
3+ years' experience with real-time data streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka).
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Strategic mindset with the ability to balance long-term vision with immediate business needs.
Familiarity with healthcare data and healthcare insurance feeds.
Familiarity with Data Analytics and reporting.
Familiarity with ML/AI.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / Engineering
Master's degree preferred
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$106,605.00 - $284,280.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.
