Summary
Hachette Book Group is looking for a Summer intern interested in a career in publishing. This role provides hands-on editorial experience, including manuscript review, research, and administrative support, while working closely with the Algonquin editorial team.

Algonquin Books is a literary imprint known for publishing distinctive voices in fiction and nonfiction. With a strong reputation for discovering and nurturing writers, Algonquin publishes books that are both critically acclaimed and widely read, bringing thoughtful, character-driven stories to a broad audience.

Logistics:
  • Program Dates: June 1 — August 6 
  • Weekly schedule:  21-28 hours per week 
  • Location: New York office, three days in office hybrid schedule 
  • Pay rate: $17.00/hour  
  • Company laptop will be provided for the duration of the internship.  
 Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•    Log and review manuscript submissions and draft reader reports
•    Research market trends and comparable titles
•    Assist with editorial mailings and author-related projects
•    Draft copy including flap, catalog, and marketing materials
•    Provide administrative and organizational support


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
•    Current student with interest in publishing
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills
•    Highly organized and detail-oriented
•    Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office
