Occupational Title:  Mold Technician Lead

Location:   Lexington

Department:  Tooling

Manager/Supervisor:  Tooling & Molding Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Mold Technician Lead will guide the day-to-day tasks of all Tooling personnel in maintaining injection molds and fixtures.  In addition, they will streamline current tooling process by developing internal capabilities to reach highest levels of Safety, Quality, and Productivity in the Tooling Department.

Essential Job Functions:

Working knowledge of safe operation of mills, grinders, lathes, CNC machines Experienced in welding and heat treatment of materials Interface with Engineering, Production, and Quality to provide input and direction Aggressively eliminate scrap created from tooling defects Identify, maintain, and continue to upgrade all training and educational needs for assigned staff Develop and maintain all documentation required to establish trends and monitor cost effectiveness Collaborate with Process Engineers, Press Operators, and others to continually improve Stoneridge processes Maintain max cavitation for all molds Maintain Quality and production standards that follow all IATF & ISO guidelines Recognize concerns and identify opportunities for continuous improvement using lean manufacturing tools to implement improved processes (e.g. 3P planning, 8 step corrective action, SMED) Drive the Tooling Department to completion of all PM process for all molds and fixtures

This job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions. It does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned. This individual possesses the experience and knowledge to effectively develop and grow a small-scale tooling team into a main support department for the Lexington plant. Increasing our internal capabilities will also allow us to leverage outside vendors to assure we are getting the best cost. This position is critical to taking the Tooling/Molding Department to the next level.

Qualifications:

  • Journeyman Tool & Die Maker
  • CAD experience
  • Troubleshooting
  • Computer skills
  • Technical Leadership experience
  • CNC Operations & Programming

Minimum Education required:

  • Advanced mechanical aptitude
  • 10 years of combined experience as Tool & Die Maker
  • CAD & Design experience

Minimum Experience Required:

  • Two years’ experience in a machine shop setting is mandatory

Pay Grade: Hourly
