IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Intern Technician in Germantown, MD. Over 10-12 weeks, you'll assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry while working closely with experienced engineers and consultants on real project work.
In this role, you'll support project documentation, coordination, and site observations while working within project budgets and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations. You'll contribute to work in government/municipal and science & technology markets, advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

What You'll Do
- Assist with design portions of mechanical systems projects according to code and IMEG standards
- Assist with researching resources for commercially available equipment
- Assist with client relations, project design notebook updates, and documentation for permanent record files
- Assist with coordinating design and schedule with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment supplier teams
- Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress
- Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness before final check
- Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information
- Conduct periodic job site observations and other services required by the contract services agreement
What You'll Bring
Required Education
- Pursuing an Associate’s Degree utilizing Autodesk Civil 3D or equivalent software tools or engineering required
Required Skills/Abilities
- May be required to assist with field duties such as surveying and materials testing
- Strong interest in design consulting
- Skill in the use of Microsoft Office programs, CAD software and BIM
- Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Preferred
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

- Collaborate with a seasoned multidisciplinary team of Professional Engineers, LEED Accredited Professionals, energy modeling experts, CFD specialists, lighting designers, commissioning professionals, and healthcare facility design experts.

State of Maryland Pay Range: $22.00–$24.00 per hour
