The Risk Management Risk (RMR) Office is seeking a highly motivated Risk Manager to apply their risk, communication, analytical, and project management skills in support of our Risk Management business areas’ in implementing and managing script governance requirements. Through this work they will gain a broad, general understanding of how Capital One manages risk, and the requirements for ensuring our scripts used by our business, data and model teams are well documented, controlled, periodically reviewed and current. This role will gain deeper knowledge in specific risk management practices, such as process and control testing, and risk assessments as well as data management; in addition, this role will support implementation and adherence to new testing requirements established by our Model Risk Office (MROf) related to script governance.
The RMR Script Governance Manager will combine their knowledge of data languages, coding and risk management practices to drive adherence to script related standards and requirements. This individual will have opportunities to partner with other Risk Advisors and key stakeholders to develop, implement and sustain process and controls to support our business areas’ adoption and application of the script and model requirements.
The ideal candidate must be able to effectively communicate and influence our stakeholders across multiple functional areas and levels of the organization, fostering accountability and collaboration. The role requires a well-rounded individual who is comfortable providing clear, actionable recommendations to ensure our process and controls are executing as intended, and exercise their skills in problem solving and critical thinking to continuously improve our practices.
Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to, the following:
Establish, implement and maintain processes, controls and reporting to manage our script inventory, with timeliness and high quality
Drive consistent application of enterprise script governance requirements; which includes acting as an advisor to those who develop and use scripts, such as data analysts, model developers, risk practitioners, and key stakeholders
Develop and provide training, guidance and tools to drive adoption and adherence to internal script governance requirements, as well as enhanced model governance requirements
Monitor, conduct quality assurance, and analyze data to to proactively identify trends, script deficiencies, and process improvement opportunities; partner with our business areas to resolve issues, escalating concerns as needed
Partner collaboratively with our Risk Advisors and business areas, risk data management team, and other risk management partners, and business risk offices
Support internal audits and exams as needed
Participate in and execute other special projects for the team on a periodic basis
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or military experience
At least 5 years of experience working in risk management, audit, or quality assurance programs
At least 3 years of experience with querying, analyzing and working with data and scripting languages such as Python, R, Spark, or SQL
At least 2 years of experience working with process and project management and improvement practices
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 6+ years of experience working in risk management, audit, or formal quality assurance programs
At least 4+ years of experience working with at least one scripting language such as Python, R, Spark, or SQL and querying, analyzing and working with data languages
At least 3+ years of experience working with process and project management and improvement practices
Experience working in the financial services industry
Experience with Governance, Risk, and Compliance software tools
The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
