Description
Job Title: Optometric Technician
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. As an Optometric Technician, you will be responsible for assisting the optometrist in providing excellent patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct preliminary eye exams, including visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, and visual field testing
- Perform diagnostic tests, such as tonometry, pachymetry, and corneal topography
- Prepare patients for eye exams by explaining the process and answering any questions they may have
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
- Clean and maintain equipment and instruments
- Assist with contact lens fittings and orders
- Educate patients on proper eye care and contact lens hygiene
- Provide exceptional customer service to all patients
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification as an optometric technician preferred
- Previous experience in an optometry or ophthalmology clinic
- Knowledge of eye anatomy, physiology, and common eye diseases
- Proficiency in diagnostic testing equipment and instruments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Requirements
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Professional attitude and appearance;
- Must be extremely efficient, organized, flexible and resourceful;
- Knowledge of technology and optometric equipment;
- Bilingual required, clinic services 30 different languages;
- Strong customer service skills and deliver services in a culturally sensitive manner for our non-English speaking patients
- Insurance verification experience preferred;
- Understand and maintain HIPAA standards of privacy and confidentiality;
- Understand vision and medical insurance;
- Strong written and oral communication skills;
- Able to use Microsoft Office and office equipment (e.g., computer, copier) ;
- Detail Oriented;
- Able to handle multiple tasks, complexity, and diversity of patients
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED is required; Associates Degree is preferred. Experience in the optical field and referral/patient navigation is preferred.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Bilingual (Vietnamese, Chinese, Burmese, Arabic and/or Spanish with English) is required;
- Above average skills in language ability as well as public speaking and writing;
- Must have good transportation and a valid Texas Driver’s license.
