I. Purpose of the Position:

The Internal Intermediary Sales Associate position is primarily responsible for building and maintaining sales and service relationships with Financial Advisors, Registered Investment Advisors and High Net Worth Individuals that fall under the responsibility of the Business Development – Wealth Management department.

II. Primary Responsibilities:

Team/Workload Management

  • Respond to inbound sales and client service inquiries initiated by financial advisors, research analysts and high net worth individuals regarding abrdn’s mutual funds, closed-end funds, exchange traded funds and separately managed accounts available under the Wealth Management Group.
  • Identify business development opportunities within construct of territory structure. Prioritize the opportunities in collaboration with external sales coverage to establish a defined list of top producers. Engage top producers with objective of rapidly growing depth and breadth of client relationships within the territory. Client engagement will include telephone calls, email correspondence, in person visits with Financial Advisors, attend/participate in Financial Advisor/Intermediary seminars, and other events designed to support top producers working with abrdn.
  • Employ data management technologies to develop sales strategies by analyzing the behaviors of financial intermediaries and financial advisors within a particular distribution channel or sales territory.
  • Build tailored product and performance reporting via Morningstar Direct to compare abrdn suite of product solutions against competitive landscape.
  • Participate in the idea generation, construction, and implementation of marketing campaigns.
  • Implement sales and marketing campaigns to existing and prospective clients via telephone/virtual meetings and e-marketing/social media platforms.
  • Collaborate with National Accounts Distribution Team regarding product and platform availability across wire houses, fund supermarkets and independent broker dealers. Educate financial advisors on product opportunities and availability specific to a particular intermediary and platform.
  • Assist National Accounts Team by facilitating the completion of firm/product due diligence questionnaires.
  • Apply abrdn’s Client Relationship Management software (SalesForce) to detail interactions with current and prospective abrdn clients.
  • Actively participate in sales, product and professional development training sessions organized internally within abrdn and with external partners.
  • Implement ad hoc operational tasks in support of business objectives of Wealth Management Group

III. Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Minimum 4-year college degree, preferably in business or a related field AND minimum1 years investment or sales experience.
  • Strong investment knowledge, industry knowledge, and product understanding of traditional & alternative investments.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills both verbally and written.
  • Ability to interact expertly and optimally with financial advisors via both phone and in person interaction.
  • Familiarity with technology solutions applied in business development roles within investment management industry (Salesforce, DST SalesConnect, Morningstar Direct and Broadridge).
  • Time management skills
  • High capacity to efficiently multitask.
  • Embrace a working environment predicated on teamwork.
  • Series 7 and 63 licenses preferred or acquire within the first 3 months of employment.

IV. CONDITIONS OF WORK:

  • Travel required: up to 10%
  • Flexible working required with on occasion significant overtime (0-10hrs per week)
