ACHC is a Federally Qualified Health Center and licensed primary care clinic. We provide Family Medicine and Dental Care, with additional specialists in Behavioral Health, Chiropractic, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Gynecology, Pediatrics, Podiatry and Optometry. ACHC Clinics are located across Fresno, Kings and Tulare counties.
SUMMARY
The Assistant Performs simple follow-up and collection procedures, including review and clarification of patient accounts against program provisions (e.g., Medicare, Medi-Cal, Blue Cross, etc.). Resolves routine patient billing inquiries and problems. Must have basic working knowledge of computer systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Following prescribed procedures, bills insurance carriers for appropriate payments after performing the necessary verification of patient accounts and insurance data for completeness and accuracy as dictated by carrier procedures and provisions (e.g. Medicare, Medi-Cal, Blue Cross, etc.).
- Audits Explanation of Benefits (EOB) received from insurance companies.
- Interprets insurance program procedures and provisions for of routine patient billing inquiries and problems using step by step guides.
- Performs follow-up on balances due from carriers and patients.
- Follow up on pending/denied claims, correcting and rebilling claims, posting payments and working encounters.
- Will record all payments and adjustments to computer systems and reconcile input as appropriate.
- Will update and maintain billing manuals in a timely fashion.
- Performs other routines and duties as requested.
Qualifications
SKILLS
Qualified candidates will be detail oriented, have strong comprehension skills, Microsoft excel and word basic knowledge and good note taking.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
Working knowledge of NextGen EHR is desirable. High School or equivalent.
LICENSURE & CERTIFICATION
Certified in Medical Billing or Medical Office Administration preferred.
PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS
Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone.
Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly with patients in person and over the telephone.
Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
Cognitive: Aptitude to complete tasks, including abilities such as learning, remembering, focusing, categorizing, and integrating information for decision making, problem-solving, and comprehending.
Other: Requires occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds unassisted. Requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements (specifically keyboarding and writing), standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.
