Role Description

We are looking for an exceptional manufacturing engineering leader to build the mission-driven team that will enable high-volume manufacturing for our new classes of battery technology. You and your team will conceptualize, engineer & deploy cell, module and enclosure manufacturing systems, with rapidly increasing volume and efficiency.

As a member of the senior leadership team, you’ll have an exciting opportunity to build from a blank slate, tackle the toughest company challenges, use first principles fundamentals and think of the factory as a fully integrated “Product” to achieve the most advanced high-volume battery manufacturing in the world.

This role will be located at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV, which is just a short drive outside of Pittsburgh, PA.

What you'll do:

  • Build and lead the assembly manufacturing engineering team, responsible for the design and deployment cell, module & enclosure high-volume battery manufacturing capacity.

  • Responsible for manufacturing lines technical requirements, designs, deployment, program management and integration with the cross functional teams.

  • Own the strategy and engagement with the manufacturing vendor partners.

  • Own the manufacturing equipment process & performance demonstration prior to handover to operations (Our customer).

  • Set goals, core principles, culture of innovation, procedures and high expectations to enable excellence.

  • Partner with the product design team to incorporate the latest process/product development, advocate for the simplest, most reliable processes and iterate on the DFM consideration to enable high volume and cost targets.

  • Drive PFMEA and OEE considerations as far upstream in product development as possible.

  • Think of the factory as a fully integrated product. Best part/process is no part/process.

  • Densify, reduce non-value add and achieve significant improvements from one iteration to the next.

What you'll bring:

  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, designing and launching automated assembly systems; 3+ years in leadership.

  • Expertise in automation, assembly, DFM & DFA.

  • Expertise in high-volume manufacturing line design, install and launch, as well as factory industrial planning.

  • Experience in driving down manufacturing costs while maintaining or improving product quality for complex electromechanical assemblies.

  • Outstanding organizational, communication, leadership, interpersonal and decision-making abilities.

  • Experience managing conflicting objectives, compressed timelines, and highly-automated processes.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics or equivalent; master’s preferred
