About the role

Daymark Health is a value-based oncology company redefining the cancer care experience for patients, providers, and health plans. Daymark’s comprehensive, personalized cancer care platform empowers patients with dedicated care navigation, symptom-focused support, behavioral health care, and social resources. Combined with evidence-based health interventions and a hybrid in-person + virtual care model, Daymark is improving the overall cancer experience for patients, providers, and health plans – and setting a new standard in cancer care.

Daymark’s groundbreaking approach is led by CEO Dr. Justin Bekelman, a pioneer in transforming cancer care, alongside some of the nation’s foremost leaders in oncology and value-based care. Daymark emerged from Healthcare Foundry, a platform dedicated to creating purpose-built, technology-enabled healthcare organizations. Daymark Health is backed by Maverick Ventures.

THE ROLE

As Daymark Health’s first Director of People Operations, you’ll be the architect of our people strategy during a period of rapid growth and market expansion. Reporting directly to the COO, you’ll design the infrastructure that enables our clinical, operational, and technical teams to scale effectively as we grow into new markets.

This is a strategic, high-impact role focused less on traditional HR administration and more on building people-first systems that foster engagement, performance, and cohesion across a distributed, mission-driven team. You’ll inherit a strong foundation—thanks to existing HR support—and take the lead on creating scalable systems for onboarding, hiring, manager development, performance management, and internal communication.

You’ll also help shape Daymark’s approach to recruiting and building high-performing teams at both the corporate and market levels, ensuring alignment between our patient-first mission and our organizational culture. If you’re a builder at heart, energized by mission-driven work, and motivated by the opportunity to define what great looks like in a scaling healthcare company, this role is for you. You’ll also need to be comfortable running recruiting processes yourself, before a team assembled under you.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

After 6 months you have:

  • Built trust and credibility with leadership, managers, and clinical teams.
  • Established core people operations processes—including onboarding, performance management, and manager development—tailored to Daymark’s operating model.
  • Reviewed and redesigned foundational policies and procedures to support clinical and non-clinical staff as they care for patients on their cancer journey.
  • Created a scalable playbook for integrating talent in new markets, ensuring smooth transitions, cultural alignment, and consistency.
  • Led at least one successful company-wide all-hands and launched a new, regular program to strengthen communication and alignment.

After 12 months you have:

  • Successfully launched a robust onboarding, training, and development program for both clinical and corporate staff, resulting in measurable improvements in retention, performance, and engagement.
  • Partnered with leadership to recruit for key roles, building a strong, repeatable recruitment process and candidate experience.
  • Become a go-to resource for managers and staff on people-related issues, balancing coaching with systems-level solutions.
  • Implemented scalable tools and processes to support organizational growth across multiple markets.

After 18 months you have:

  • Elevated the people function from building and optimizing to innovating—introducing programs that drive engagement, performance, and cross-team cohesion.
  • Achieved high engagement and satisfaction scores across clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Served as a trusted advisor to the executive team on all people-related matters, influencing organizational strategy and direction.
  • Nurtured a unified culture across corporate, clinical, and market teams, rooted in shared values and Daymark’s mission to transform the cancer care experience.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Expertise. 8+ years of progressive experience in people operations and recruiting, ideally in high-growth and value-based care startups.
  • Mission Alignment. Passion for building systems that support clinicians, staff, and patients in a mission-driven, patient-first organization.
  • Biased to Action. Able to independently drive initiatives from conception to execution with a track record of delivering measurable results.
  • Entrepreneurial. Thrives in early-stage, high-growth environments where not all processes are defined. Comforta
