Lead HR Advisor

At Lumen, human resources is focused on understanding what our people need and knowing how to provide it. As a Lead HR Advisor within the HR Advisory Center of Excellence, you will be responsible for providing the business with solutions to employee (union-represented and non-union people) issues ranging from straightforward to complex. Activities you will be responsible for HR compliance support, reduction-in-force/force adjustments, reorganizations, rebadging, and continuous improvement projects. Success in this role is characterized by being a self-starter, showing persistence to get the right things done, maintaining a positive attitude and being extremely quick and curious to learn new things. Success is further exhibited by building strong relationships, being a change agent, adaptability, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and maintaining a customer first mindset

The Main Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted advisor and influencer providing candid and unbiased counsel through an interactive partnership with the business

• Demonstrates ability to provide thoughtful and empathetic support to employees; actively listening and asking probing questions to accurately diagnose the issue(s)

• Recommend employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employeremployee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation

• Utilize data for risk assessment

• Makes recommendations regarding severance ensuring consistent application of relevant policies and procedures. Collaborates with leaders and the legal team to manage and mitigate risks effectively.

• Manages, with sensitivity and urgency, any workforce reorganizations, or reductions in keeping with required laws, best practices, and culture. 

• Influences leaders and internal business support partners on best practices and thinking around Employee Relations trends.

• Ability to use data in decision making using Excel for analytics and adverse impact analysis 

Additional Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates candor and poise to field difficult questions from teammates and leaders; ability to discuss difficult issues with candor and kindness

• Demonstrates a broad understanding of core HR disciplines such as general HR acumen, compensation, Employee Relations and HR consulting/advising, along with a demonstrated ability to apply it in support of business and people priorities

• Ensure legal compliance of HR state and federal regulations and applicable employment laws

• Demonstrate a change management mindset through identification of opportunities to enhance the employee experience through education, process improvement and innovative ideas; offer potential solutions to drive greater stakeholder satisfaction

• Utilize data to assist in decision making and recommend opportunities to improve practices

• Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff

• All other duties as assigned

What We Look For in a Candidate

• Bachelors degree in Business or HR-related field or equivalent education

• 6+ years of HR experience 

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

 

Location Based Pay Ranges:

 

$82,969 - $110,625 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY.
$87,117 - $116,156 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI.
$91,266 - $121,688 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
