Staff Accountant

 

 

Megatel Homes is seeking a detail‑oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our rapidly growing organization. The ideal candidate is a positive, enthusiastic team player with strong communication skills, reliability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. This role supports accounting operations across homebuilding and land development entities. This position is onsite, no hybrid available.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Reconcile bank accounts and review general ledgers for homebuilding and land development entities
• Maintain and reconcile various subledgers on a monthly basis
• Prepare monthly GL account reconciliations, accruals, and adjusting journal entries
• Prepare daily journal entries
• Perform analytical reviews of key general ledger accounts
• Support biweekly construction draw inspections and funding
• Assist with revenue recognition and related account reconciliations
• Prepare interim and year‑end audit schedules for external auditors
• Assist with wiring instructions for buyers and record incoming buyer funds
• Support preparation of loan and lot documentation
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies or irregularities
• Produce ad hoc financial reports and assist with special projects
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support the accounting team

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 2+ years of related accounting or bookkeeping experience
• General ledger experience required
• Strong understanding of general accounting functions and GAAP
• Extremely detail‑oriented with strong accuracy in numerical data processing
• Ability to multitask and keep multiple projects moving simultaneously
• Critical thinker with strong problem‑solving skills
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with sound judgment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Real estate, homebuilding, construction or manufacturing industry experience is a plus
• CPA not required
