Position Information

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will work closely with Drs. Katie Lewis and Joseph Burke, along with other faculty at Texas A&M AgriLife Research and the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service, on a state-funded project to determine the impact of manure and biosolid applications on soil health outcomes in Texas.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads a state-wide effort to better understand how per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances impact soil health and agricultural systems.

  • Leads field experiments, collects data on soil, water, plants, and climate, analyzes the data, interprets the results, and presents findings at local, regional, and national meetings.

  • Prepares manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

  • These duties require physical activities, including extensive fieldwork, travel, heavy lifting, and working in extreme environments.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in soil science, microbiology, environmental toxicology, or related fields, with a focus on soil health.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent English oral, written, and electronic communication skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences.

  • Knowledge of advanced statistical models/tools.

  • Experience with large, various datasets.

  • Experience working with PFAS.

Position Funding: This position is grant funded and availability is contingent upon availability of these funds and your satisfactory job performance.
