About The Role:
The Warehouse Picking Team Leader is responsible for overseeing and leading a team of warehouse operatives in the accurate and efficient picking and staging of customer orders. This role is vital for ensuring high productivity levels, inventory accuracy, and adherence to all Health and Safety regulations within the picking department. The team leader acts as the first point of contact for the picking team, providing guidance, motivation, and on-the-job training.

We need you to ensure we build an exemplary team with repeatable quality and efficiency into everything we produce which is central in allowing us to scale our US operations in a balanced and consistent manner.

What You'll Be Doing:

Team Leadership:

·        Supervise, motivate, and manage a team of pickers to ensure high levels of productivity and accuracy.

·        Allocate tasks and monitor workflow to ensure orders are picked and prepared for shipment on schedule.

·        Provide on-the-job training for new staff and ongoing coaching for existing team members to enhance skills and performance.

·        Conduct regular performance reviews and address any performance-related issues effectively.

·        Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

·        Utilise a hands-on, collaborative leadership style to your team, always leading by example.

Picking Operations and Quality Control:

·        Ensure the team accurately picks items based on order specifications using handheld scanners.

·        Perform regular quality checks on completed orders to guarantee accuracy and prevent discrepancies.

·        Operate and oversee the use of all warehouse equipment in a safe manner.

·        Collaborate with inventory control and dispatch, to resolve issues and ensure a smooth flow of goods.

·        Standardize work processes to improve quality, reduce waste, and increase throughput.

Compliance and Reporting:

·        Maintain a clean, organised, safe and audit ready picking environment, enforcing strict adherence to all EHS regulations.

·        Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for the picking area, such as pick rates and accuracy.

·        Assist in conducting regular stock takes and cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.

·        Maintain accurate daily activity and productivity reports using designated systems.

·        Promote a culture of Continuous Improvement across all levels and departments of the organization.

Requirements

What You’ll Need:

·        Supervisory Warehousing qualification.

·        5+ years of experience in a similar role within a high-mix, low-volume environment.

·        Proven track record developing and leading successful teams

·        Demonstrated commitment to ensure our business goals and your functional goals are met / exceeded.

·        Highly energetic with the ability to empower your team to drive CEL to be the best supplier in our industry.

·        Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

·        Experience with forklifts, pallet jacks and push carts a must

·        Counterbalance and / or Reach Forklift Truck license

·        Knowledge of lean techniques or process improvement methodologies.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift, carry, and move materials up to 50 lbs. safely and efficiently.

Ability to stand, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.

Ability to operate hand tools and equipment as required.
