Our machines are critical to the success of our operation. Under general supervision, Maintenance Technicians will perform services and repairs to ensure reliability of equipment and improve the overall equipment effectiveness of all machines within the manufacturing facility. This includes possessing the following skill sets: mechanical, electrical, plumbing, welding, fabrication, carpentry, painting, plastering, janitorial, HVAC, ammonia, machine & vehicle servicing. This individual will also need to work safely and cohesively to support, sustain, and improve the manufacturing facility, the building, and the grounds. Troubleshooting and thoughtfully moving through observational data is foundational for this position at Oberweis Dairy. Documenting procedures, and following written standard operating procedures is a surefire way to be successful in this role.

Manufacturing Maintenance Technician Job Functions
- Assistance with development, and, execution of our Preventive Maintenance Program.
- Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic systems, conveyor systems, and other production machines.
- Utilize trouble shooting skills to repair issues with production equipment
- Removes and replaces defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
- Proficient with basic 120 VAC control circuits and 3 phase AC voltage sources (277/480 VAC) to complete routine electrical repair, adjustment, and installation work.
- Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts using rulers, calipers, micrometers, hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, straightedges, and other measuring instruments.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
- Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop equipment.
- Assists in maintaining equipment, parts, and supply inventories.
- Maintains technical knowledge and possesses a drive for continuous improvement by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
- Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and needs.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Education and Experience
- High school education or General Education Degree (GED) required
- Completion of apprenticeship or Associates Degree in related field
- Five or more years of industrial manufacturing engineering/maintenance experience preferred
- Prior experience in food/beverage manufacturing preferred
- Certifications preferred: EPA, Ammonia Systems, HVAC, Electrical
Computer Skills
- Ability to record information in spreadsheet format, analyze and prepare required reports using spreadsheet manipulation, Microsoft Office suite of products.
- Must be proficient and comfortable with smart phone usage; texting/emailing.
Reasoning Abilities
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Troubleshooting requires the capability to conduct cause and effect analysis, dealing with ambigu
