Aerospace’s Civil Systems Group (CSG) is seeking qualified individuals for the position of Deputy Project Leader in support of Civil Space Programs in the Federal Civil Development Directorate. The Directorate is responsible for providing full lifecycle independent assessment, systems engineering & integration (SE&I), policy and mission/safety assurance to Federal non-DOD agencies (including FAA, FCC and DOC) across the space and related complex systems enterprise.

The candidate selected for this position will be responsible for all dimensions of the Directorate’s relationship with customers and customer community and leading and supporting efforts to deliver SE&I Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) value with our customers. Specific responsibilities will include partnering with federal customers and Aerospace subject matter experts (SMEs) to identify hard problems and develop innovative, objective technical solutions as well as assisting management in establishing and evolving CSG’s growth strategy and plans aligned with customer needs, value propositions, long term opportunity identification and capture execution.

Work Model: This a full-time position located in Crystal City, Virginia. The work is hybrid requiring 3 days on site at minimum. 


What You'll be Doing

  • Maintain and expand direct institutional customer relationships across civil and commercial sectors, and partner with Aerospace’s technical SME’s and project management to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Understand customer technical issues and requirements and be the voice of the customer to communicate these to technical management as well as Aerospace capture and proposal teams.
  • Support the strategy, planning, development, pursuit and capture of opportunities, consistent with corporate policies/practices, goals, and business development objectives.
  • Work as part of an integrated team consisting of account representatives, capture management, proposal management, program management, administrative, execution and technical experts.
  • Engage regularly and maintain effective relationships with customer decision makers.
  • Establish and maintain Aerospace’s reputation with customers as a thought leader and problem solver by professionally representing the Corporation and collaborating with customers in a disciplined fashion to achieve their mission needs.
  • Assist in engaging Aerospace senior executives with customer’s leadership

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, science, mathematics, or closely related field or a BA and and advanced degree
  • Six years minimum of related experience in increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, including multi-disciplinary systems engineering and/or program management environments
  • Knowledge of Civil customers space activities and authorities to include FAA, NOAA & NASA
  • Exhibits exceptionally high level of innovation, creativeness, and initiative
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers
  • Understanding of U.S. and International Space Policy
  • This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
