Job Title: Intermediate Financial Analyst Department: Finance Competition: 87326 Internal/External: Internal/ External Employment Type: Permanent. Full-Time Location: Remote in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, or PEI Salary: The MINIMUM salary for this position is $58,044 per annum. Starting salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s education, experience, and internal equity Reports To: Manager Closing Date: August 23, 2024    

The Financial Analyst is responsible to ensure timely and accurate preparation and recording of financial data as well as providing qualitative analysis. The role ensures that all internal and external financial reporting deadlines are achieved, while maintaining a high level of service to our external customers and shareholders.

 

Responsibilities

• Preparing journal entries and ledger control account reconciliations related to various accounts.
• Recording and analyzing a variety of accounts related to payments and receivables; ensuring proper account coding, setting up accruals, verifying to budget and documenting variances.
• Preparing journal entries and reviewing package to record investment activity.
• Developing qualitative reporting within accounting software.
• Maintaining GL account structure along with report maintenance and balancing.
• Performing analysis of performance on monthly results.
• Participating in the preparation of materials required for the budget, forecasting and year-end audit process.
• Assessing, reporting, and documenting internal financial reporting controls.

 

Requirements

• A Bachelor degree with major in accounting or finance.
• 3 - 5 years of related experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite with demonstrated strong ability in Excel.
• Knowledge of technologies that support digital solutions for accounting and finance processes.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Exceptional organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

 

Assets

• CPA designation.
• Oracle database querying or knowledge of Alteryx and/or Power BI.
• Experience using Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains).
• Bilingualism (ENG/FR).
