About the role

Apply to become a Medical Assistant in Training (MiT) with Podiatry!

A medical assistant provides in-department clinical support, with responsibilities that include rooming patients, collecting patient information, preparing patients for examination, assisting with procedures, and helping with overall delivery of compassionate patient care.

As a MiT, you will:

  • Earn as you learn: All MiT’s will be full-time, benefit-eligible employees with a non-negotiable $18.00 hourly pay rate and receive a $1,500 bonus (paid out in two installments)

  • Receive hands-on education: In the program, you will complete 12 weeks of on-site coursework and skills lab before your 160-hour clinical rotation.

  • MA credential: Upon completion of coursework and clinical rotation, you’ll be primed to tackle the national certifying test and obtain the CCMA credential through NHA.  After successfully passing the test, you are seamlessly transitioned to a MA-R 2 role within Podiatry.

**Important Note: the Vancouver Clinic MA in Training (MiT) program does not qualify for a Washington State Department of Health, Medical Assistant-Certified credential.  The MA-Registered has a different scope of practice.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • a commitment to growth and learning

  • strong skills in teamwork, communication and flexibility

  • ability to communicate and collaborate with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Attendance commitment: MA in Training (MiT) is a full-time (1.0 FTE) employee and must have excellent attendance for the duration of the 16-week program! Consistent, dependable, and predictable attendance is crucial in helping us fulfill our mission of providing high-quality, compassionate care. We require our employees to adhere to our attendance standards, as frequent deviations make it difficult to provide care for our patients and support our coworkers.  Vacation time will not be permitted during the didactic/coursework weeks of the program and absences may result in dismissal from the program.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS), or obtain within 60 days of hire (not provided by Vancouver Clinic).

  • Commit to attendance requirements for duration of the program

  • Must obtain Washington State Medical Assistant-Registered credential within required timeframe and maintain in active status throughout employment.

Program start: August 11, 2025 :: Program end (approx.): November 28, 2025

Pay Range:

$16.89 - $23.65
