The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing and improving efficient, production processes and methods from parts receiving, through welding, powder-coating, assembly to finished goods at the warehouse or shipping. Establish time standards in direct labor departments consistent with required level of output. Plans equipment to meet these requirements. Coordinates projects to meet time schedules. Reduce total cycle time and lead time through the value stream.
What Will You Do?
In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:
Directly supports and reports to a "Value Stream" and indirectly supports and reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
Establishes methods and processes for assembly, welding, paint line and related material handling on existing products.
Recommends capital equipment and assists with preparation of capital expenditure requisitions.
Supervises the installation of equipment, methods and processes as related to accomplishment of goals.
Works with department supervisors in implementing new methods and processes.
Assists in training lead persons on the application of technical engineering methods.
Acts as liaison with engineering regarding engineering trouble shooting pertaining to the manufacture of current and new products.
Makes recommendations for finding solutions regarding safety, quality, or production.
Coordinates projects using in-house resources and outside resources to meet project costs and time schedules.
Be familiar with OSHA requirements and recommends correction action to assure that OSHA standards are met.
Implements proper ergonomics in work station setup, processes, tooling and safety equipment.
Conducts ergonomic audits during production and setups.
Assists new products/models launch and production runs.
Identify and apply Lean methodologies to ensure processes are scientifically controlled and continuously improved.
Reviews quality audits to identify processes for improvement.
Reviews all engineering changes and incorporates necessary changes to manufacturing processes and standard work.
Able to adjust work hours to accommodate special projects/events.
What Do You Need?
To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:
Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial/manufacturing, etc.) required;
Engineer I 0-2 years experience
Engineer 2 -2-4 years experience
