This is a 3 Year Fixed Term opportunity to oversee the provision of IT program management services to the Reserve Bank’s Payments Settlements Department.   This includes changes to technology that underpins RITS - Australia’s real-time gross settlement system.  This system settles around $250b between financial institutions each day.

In your role you will lead and develop a team of highly skilled project management professionals to achieve goals and deliver RBA outcomes. You will utilise your strong leadership skills and understanding of the business needs to deliver effective and efficient technology change in support of IT and business strategies.

Key Objectives

  • Develop and oversee robust and achievable program and project plans to manage the quality delivery of multiple, concurrent projects and programs with complex interdependencies with other projects in our portfolio.

  • Manage internal and external relationships, communicating and collaborating effectively with key business and technology stakeholders to successfully deliver change.

  • Lead a team of specialists introducing improvements to technology, process and people capabilities while maintaining the Bank’s high levels of security and availability.

  • Oversee procurement and vendor management to ensure delivery of program benefits, compliance with procurement policies and value for money.

  • Ensure realisation of agreed program benefits and effective transition of deliverables to operational management.

  • Identify and respond to issues, risks, and opportunities, supporting the team to deliver agreed program outcomes.

  • Contribute to the improvement of policies, systems, and processes to enable the Bank to deliver project change more effectively.

  • Lead, guide and develop individuals and teams, including project teams where required, to effectively achieve department and organisational outcomes.

Your background

  • We are looking for someone with great people and leadership skills who has extensive experience (5+ years) as a Senior Program Manager successfully leading teams to deliver projects for Business Systems that underpin core business functions.  Experience working in high reliability industry’s (financial, healthcare, utilities: electricity/gas, airlines, manufacturing) is preferred. 

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and reduce risks and issues in complex technology environments ensuring the highest appropriate standards of reliability, resilience, and availability.

  • Strong understanding of payments and settlements systems. Experience applying technical expertise to connect technology to business and organisational strategies.

  • Proven experience managing large and complex project portfolios using both Agile and waterfall methodologies along with advanced understanding of modern technology solutions in financial services.
