In this people-leader role, you will be responsible for day-to-day oversight of shipping operations to drive strategic and sustainable results while ensuring safety, efficiency, and profitability for the organization. Highly accountable for working collaboratively to bring Nutrien’s Culture of Care to life.
What you will do:
- Effectively manage inventory, quality standards, and performance metrics to achieve operational goals.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures to facilitate consistent approaches to work, maximizing effectiveness.
- Provide ongoing employee coaching to foster continuous learning and professional skill development.
- Cultivate effective team dynamics, managing conflict effectively and inspiring cooperation.
- Develop and maintain a motivated workforce encouraging autonomy, accountability, and bringing out the best in one another.
- Utilize clear and concise communication with team, colleagues, and customers.
- Translate operational requirements into successful daily plans and optimized workforce schedules.
- Actively demonstrate a commitment to embracing change and driving innovation.
- Engage in continuous environmental scans to control costs, respond to trends, and minimize operational and staff downtime.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with Safety, Health, & Environment, Human Resources, and Nutrien colleagues to leverage organizational resources and expertise.
- Actively contribute to business plan development, budget forecast, and production targets.
- Respond to inventory audits and asset reviews in a timely and accurate manner.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field is required. Equivalent experience may be substituted for educational requirements.
- 5 years of previous progressive experience in warehouse operations is essential.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and warehouse management technology systems.
- Competent in effectively developing operational activities to manage the flow of goods.
- Familiarity with storage optimization, bulk chemical safety, and machinery maintenance.
- Ability to implement tactics for managing inventory relative to changing business operations.
- Proven problem-solving methodologies to manage unforeseen circumstances.
- Skilled in leading workforce through periods of peak productivity and gradual declines.
- Demonstrated attention to details which impact efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity.
- Ability to effectively analyze warehouse performance and make data driven decisions.
- Ability to provide effective leadership to employees, maximizing performance and responding to employee ideas and concerns.
- Continuously work to prevent workplace accidents, supporting employees in ensuring that everyone goes home safe every day.
