POSITION SUMMARY

  

As a part of a dynamic marketing team at Benedictine College, the Social Media Specialist will have a variety of tasks associated with social media and photography. The Social Media Specialist will continue to develop and lead the college’s social media strategy and oversee the college’s online communication channels in order to increase online engagement and drive positive external communication with prospective students, current students, alumni, families and friends. Under the supervision of the Director of Extension Strategy, the Social Media Specialist will be responsible for all social news and content creation; social media crisis and response management; the creation of fresh and inventive social media campaigns; active engagement and representation of the college’s online community; and corresponding photography.


This role requires a resourceful, creative and passionate person who can harness their direct experience in managing social media channels and digital campaigns to lead the college’s online strategy, content and channels. The ideal candidate will be an expert in the online communication space who also possesses photography skills and a solid understanding of traditional communications and digital marketing. The successful candidate will have knowledge of design/graphics, social media, a balance of creative and analytical skills, a strong connection to faith and solid verbal and written communication skills.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


Main Areas of Responsibility


Working under the supervision of the Director of Extension Strategy, the Social Media Specialist will


  • Serve as the college’s in-house social editor, overseeing the creation of inventive, engaging and college-appropriate social content and calendars for all social channels. This position is responsible for coordinating content calendar across the college departments.
  • Photography in support of social media needs and for other college purposes.
  • Help conceptualize, lead and execute innovative social content campaigns to drive awareness of the college, coordinate with PR efforts and increase social engagement.
  • Integrate online communication into all marketing or communication initiatives.
  • Develop social media programming interfaces, monitoring dashboards and more to enhance the functionality of the college’s social media efforts and recruitment performance.
  • Lead and manage the day-to-day communication via Benedictine College’s s social online communities. Specifics include: daily monitoring, posting, content (both written + visual) creation and development.
  • Provide initial training and oversight for administrators managing departmental social media channels.
  • Assist in developing and ensuring compliance with online standards, as part of institutional identity.­­
  • Work with the college’s Ex Corde Center for Catholic Media to help with content marketing.
  • Create effective relationships with personnel within the college to ensure effective communication of college messages and presentation of the college brand.
  • Develop and implement various measurement criteria to evaluate effectiveness of online communication programs.
  • Function as a member of the Marketing and Communications Office, with account service responsibilities to clients [departments] across campus.

Requirements

  • College degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or Journalism.
  • 1 – 2 years of experience. A combination of internships and education will be considered.
  • Development experience and understanding of responsive web (helpful but not required).
  • Design experience with Adobe Creative Cloud is helpful but not required.
  • Strong faith affinity and ability to understand and communicate Catholic issues.
