Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking an Account Technician 1 to work at the Vandalia Correctional Center.  This position is responsible for reviewing and verifying payroll information, serves as Worker's Compensation Coordinator and clerical Control Office for property. We encourage all qualified individuals to apply.

Essential Functions

• Reviews and verifies payroll information presented by timekeeping and personnel department, for accuracy prior to processing institutional payroll.
• Serves as Worker's Compensation Coordinator.
• Serves as clerical Control Officer for property.
• Serves as backup to other Account Technician I’s in the Business Office during peak periods and vacations.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college and completion of an approved training course, or three (3) years related clerical bookkeeping experience.
• Qualifying state employees in the employee Upward Mobility Program, may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification.<
