The Department of Clinical Education within the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine coordinates all clinical education experiences for osteopathic medicine students.

Position Overview

The Department of Clinical Education within the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine coordinates all clinical education experiences for osteopathic medicine students. The Assistant Director, Clinical Education, directs and coordinates functions of the Office of Osteopathic Clinical Education. Assumes administrative responsibility in the absence of the Executive Director. This position is responsible for monitoring and refining the clinical education component of the curriculum; facilitating quality clinical learning experiences for students.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four (4) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
High functioning problem-solving skills,
Ability to make independent decisions and know when to check with higher authority.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in administrative support within field of medical education,
Experience with medical academic coordination,
High proficiency in Microsoft office

Job Duties:

  • Actively assist in the overall coordination to include scheduling of meetings, rotations of students, orientations, fellows, interns, and residents; grade submission; and other related administrative duties. 
  • Maintain updated syllabus, evaluations, and program policy and procedures. Assure that the syllabus, course materials, and lectures are distributed to Clinical Education for posting. 
  • Runs reports for core and elective rotations. 
  • Serve as resource for team members, providing guidance on software systems, policies, procedures, requirements, etc.
  • Implement and maintain student clerkship lotteries. 
  • Edit and update (as needed) the course catalog and schedule of classes.
  • Conduct presentations (as needed) in relation to osteopathic clinical education. 
  • All other duties as assigned. 
  • Prepare and maintain online platform and keep all course documents up-to-date for student and faculty involved in the course. 
  • Manage, train, and evaluate the Academic Program Specialists assigned.
