Senior Software Engineer Manager

<p>Azure Storage Fundamentals team is looking for a talented and highly motivated software engineer to design and develop the next generation of our storage backend. We are building Microsoft’s cloud storage solution - Microsoft Azure Storage, which is a massively scalable, highly distributed, ubiquitously accessible storage system, designed to scale out and serve the entire world. We continue to have tremendous hockey stick growth; we have many Exabyte data stored and are designing and building systems for Zettabyte scale to support demand growth for the coming years. We are looking for enthusiastic candidates who love to learn, have a passion for writing high quality software and enjoy collaborating with a dynamic team.<br/><br/>As a Senior Software Engineer Manager in the Azure Storage Fundamentals Team, you will help solve reliability and scale requirements as we bring new Data Processing Unit based storage designs into the Azure Cloud. You will have the opportunity to make high-impact changes daily as you work and integrate with software that will enable the next generation of hyper-scale storage systems. This position will be involved with installing, maintaining and automating Azure Storage hardware in development and test capacity, creating hardware health and test automation, and investigating networking and deployment configuration scenarios.<br/><br/>Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.</p> <h3>Responsibilities</h3> <ul><li>Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a scenario.</li><li>Drives identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.</li><li>Creates, implements, optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to establish and improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI).</li><li>Leverages subject-matter expertise of product features and partners with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive a workgroup's project plans, release plans, and work items.</li><li>Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiates actions to restore system/product/service for simple and complex problems when appropriate.</li><li>Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.</li></ul> <h3>Qualifications</h3> <p><strong>Required Qualifications:</strong></p><p> </p><ul><li>Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND senior level technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python<ul><li>OR equivalent experience.</li></ul></li><li>Experience in developing production software​</li><li>System design, algorithmic skills, and knowledge of data  structures​.</li><li>Debugging, testing, and problem-solving skills.</li></ul> <p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science<ul><li><ul><li>OR related technical field AND senior level technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python</li><li>OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND Senior level technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python</li><li>OR equivalent experience</li></ul></li></ul></li><li>Understanding of inner dev loop, build systems and compilers, troubleshooting pipelines and deployments.</li><li>Familiarity with compilers (msvc), build engines(msbuild) and DevOps pipelines.</li></ul><p><strong>Other Requirements:</strong></p><ul><li>Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
