Job Description
The Public Information Unit works closely with internal business partners to respond to requests for documents and information from members of the public, the media, litigants, and federal, state, and local agencies.
Responsibilities of the Community Associate position include, but are not limited to, performing the following tasks under the supervision of the NYCHA Records Access Officer:
- Assisting NYCHA’s business units in responding to Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests, subpoenas, investigations, and other inquiries.
- Working in coordination with business units to collect data in response to requests, performing document reviews for privilege, confidentiality, and other legal issues.
- Working closely with other Public Information staff to respond to FOIL requests, subpoenas, and other inquiries.
- Performing difficult and responsible clerical operations.

Qualifications
Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
