THE CHALLENGE:
Working as a part of the Audiovisual Tribe development team in Trondheim, the Backend Java- Developer will be responsible for implementing backend applications together with team members in Trondheim and in our other engineering-locations. The AV dev-team in Trondheim supports the business needs of the AV vertical for content and client management, streaming analytics, live streaming and VOD workflows, and post-match reporting. Most of the daily tasks involve working with Java, RESTful Webservice frameworks, Kubernetes, Gitlab CI/CD.
We are looking for someone who has a clear passion for development and creating state of the art solutions, has a sound working knowledge of Java as well as good skills in databases and MySQL, knows new and current technological trends, designs and development processes.
As our Backend Developer you will:
- Work in small team - building the core platform, enabling Sportradar to deliver hundreds of thousands of live streams daily.
- Work with the following tech stack: Java, Dropwizard and Kubernetes.
- Develop RESTful APIs and Microservices.
- Use the best in class of tooling for developing secure and tested code.
- Develop products in the intersection of live data and – video.
- Participate in Code Reviews and writing tests – we are a quality-focused company.
- Contribute to developing new solutions, sharing your ideas and opinion.

YOUR PROFILE:
Must have:
At least 3 years of experience in backend technologies like Java (is a must) or Golang (or a wish to learn Golang).
Well experienced with MySQL.
Experience with deploying to and hosting applications in AWS, or other Cloud environment.
A problem-solving attitude, i.e. not just focused on writing code, but on tackling complex problems and determining how best to solve them.
Understanding of software architecture principles.
Nice to have:
Knowledge of Kubernetes and AWS services like EKS and Aurora.
Experience with Java Testing Frameworks.
Familiarity with development of APIs.
Willingness to practice TDD and pair programming.
Experience with Live Streaming tools and technologies, e.g. FFmpeg, HLS, DASH.
