About the role

JOB SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Technician 3 is critical to safe and efficient Operations.  The Maintenance Technician 3 will be required to perform advanced Troubleshooting, Repair, and Preventive Maintenance of our Mechanical and Digital Facility Production Equipment and Conveyance Systems.  The Maintenance Technician 3 must take responsibility for the safety, quality and timely execution of these support services including the training and assistance of Maintenance Technician 1 and Maintenance 2 athletes as needed.  The maintenance Technician 3 will have a significant focus on automation, requiring an advanced fabrication skillset, jig and fixture design, proficiency in digital machinery, and experience in design through AutoCAD and Fusion 360. 

Essential Job Functions:

 

  • Completes Work Orders, Preventive Maintenance, Corrective Repairs and other written or computer-based documents.
  • Designs and Fabricates Tools and Machines to automate production processes for greater efficiency or output capacity.   
  • The assist in design and independently complete assigned Engineering functions such as Prototyping, Experimentation, Data Collection, Time Studies, Safety and Quality Assessments, and Reports (e.g. Nonconformance, Capital Expenditure Authorization, Purchase Requisitions, Request for Quote, Process Sheets, Safety Training Checklists, and others) including the ability to communicate with internal and external resource partners.
  • May assist and participate in cross-functional group meetings and presentations of proposed tool, machine and process improvement projects
  • May have significant project work assigned in AutoCAD, Fusion 360, PrintFactory, Wasatch, Esko, and other interfaces or technology platforms
  • Learn and become familiar with and/or utilize SWITCH and other technical programs.
  • Effectively communicates issues and propose solutions to other Techs, Production Team Members as well as Leadership.
  • Diagnose complex Mechanical and Electrical problems using technical drawings (e.g., blueprints, Electrical/Mechanical Schematics) and diagnostic tools (e.g., multi-meter, laptop).
  • Troubleshoots and repair Complex Motor Control problems on equipment with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Soft Starts, Servo Drives, and External Input / Output (I/O) Devices. 
  • Performs Preventative Maintenance and Repairs on Conveyor equipment, Grounds, Building Equipment and PIT (Powered Industrial Truck).
  • May be assigned to Operate Digital and/or Mechanical Machinery as needed to assess and tune to maximize output, and/or to meet business needs.
  • Performs general housekeeping and Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Adheres to all Department and Company Standards, Operating Procedures and Safety Requirements.
  • Notify leadership immediately of any observed compliance gap to codes, standards and regulations (state, federal, or local)
  • Identify hazardous conditions and practices and immediately respond to (if trained) and report any unsafe physical conditions or unsafe work practices to site leadership.
  • Treats others with respect and conducts themselves in a positive and inclusive manner daily. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  EDUCATIONAL & Experience REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Technical Diploma or equivalent transferable experience required.
  • 5 years of related experience/education in mechanical, electric and electronic operation and repair required.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Basic AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Print Factory, Wasatch, Esko and other technical programs.
  • 2 years experience operating or repairing digital machines such as Printers, Cutters and Lasers highly preferred.
  GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Advanced Mechanical Troubleshooting
  • Advanced  Electrical Troubleshooting and NEC compliance
  • Advanced Motor Controls Troubleshooting
  • Advanced PLC Troubleshooting
  • Advanced Fabrication Skillset
  • Ability to consistently enforce LOTO and all other safety protocol
  • Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed
  • Ability to work at heights from ladders and aerial lifts
  • Maintain current certifications:
    • Bloodborne pathogens
    • PIT
    • Respirator
    • Fall protection

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. 
  • Ability to participate in a team lift of 50 lbs. 
  • Able to sit, stand and/or walk for entire shift
  • Comfortable with frequent ladder use
  • Able to turn or bend
  • Able to crouch,
