At Cruise, the Embedded Systems Team develops the first layers of software on the car, from interfacing hardware to moving large amounts of data up the software stack. The Device Diagnostics team within Embedded Systems delivers efficient and comprehensive frameworks for diagnosing a large network of devices across multiple AV platforms and is responsible for establishing reliable diagnostics for compute units that are critical to the autonomous vehicle safety and operation.
What you’ll be doing:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop software in C++ to bring up diagnostics framework for various devices (eg. Connectivities, computes, etc) that runs on various OS's across vehicle platforms
- Working with internal and external partners to define the system-level architecture for the continuous improvement of our future generations of Autonomous Vehicle diagnostics framework
- Deliver reliable embedded software through requirements generation, continuous integration, automated testing, issue tracking, and code reviews
- Owning technical projects from start to finish and being responsible for major technical decisions and tradeoffs. Effectively participating in team planning, code reviews, and design discussions
- Support testing partner teams through validation efforts, debugging code and assisting with triaging failures as needed
What you must have:
- 5+ years of experience writing production-quality software
- Proficiency with C++11 or later
- Experience driving sophisticated Embedded Software projects through the full lifecycle of product development
- Experience architecting and delivering Embedded Systems solutions that support multiple generations of the product
- Experience applying and mentoring team members on software best practices
- Capable of influencing others and building consensus even over contentious technical debates
Bonus points!
- Experience developing on and for embedded Linux / POSIX systems
- Demonstrated experience building, testing, and shipping production software
- Experience with safety critical development (FDA, FAA, Automotive)
- Experience with networking
- Knowledge about firmware security, secure communication, TLS and encryption/decryption
- Experience with ROS or other robotics middleware platforms
- Experience with other languages: C, Python, Bash, Go
The salary range for this position is $116,300 - $171,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
