Job Description

This Site Reliability Engineer position will be responsible for system reliability, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning of the services authored by Experian Health. The SRE must be passionate about system stability and driven to improve large, complex systems. 

As a member of the newly formed centralized AppOps team, your initial task will be to understand application architecture, provide observability, identify efficiency and stability solutions, and drive resolution for a subset of Experian Health’s 24/7 SaaS applications.

As an SRE, you’ll be embedded in development teams to understand how the system is changing while acquiring the necessary domain knowledge to effectively troubleshoot and repair an outage. This information will be used to coordinate with Operations, Security, and Quality Assurance teams, among others, to raise awareness and increase stability.

You will lead emergency response calls, monitor applications, update playbooks, and automate tasks. The position requires a holistic approach to troubleshooting and an innate need to optimize, harden, and automate tasks to prevent and recover from outages.

SRE Core Responsibilities:

  • Monitor batch and real-time applications for performance, availability, and errors.
  • Guide teams through emergency response while keeping the greater organization aware of status.
  • Organize and drive change management tasks.
  • Develop tools to forecast demand and plan for capacity and communicate.
  • Improve the efficiency and scalability of Experian Health applications.
  • Automate tasks to prevent unwanted conditions as well as automate tasks to recover from unexpected events.

Qualifications

 

  • Thorough knowledge in all aspects of designing and developing large, real-time systems.
  • Experience with Splunk, Dynatrace, SysDig preferred 
  • Experience with Ansible, BitBucket, Octopus preferred 
  • Organized and methodical with a desire to document and share.
  • Prior successful experience as a systems performance or site/systems reliability engineer.
  • Prior successful experience as a developer.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix 
  • Mastery of fault tolerant approaches in a large scale distributed environment and high performance systems
  • Demonstrated experience working in large, complex systems environments.
  • Deep understanding of internet and networking protocols.
  • A passion for performance excellence, robustness and engineering mindset
  • Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:

  • The successful candidate will possess a passion for making systems better and will thrive in an environment that demands accountability. Must have a deep understanding of the roles played by different departments and how to serve as a bridge between them.
  • Proven proactive experience in a high volume transaction environment. – preferred (millions of transaction per hour)
  • Accomplished contributor with 5+ years managing regional and global areas. – Familiar with concepts – arranging/administering software concepts and maintenance
  • Have excellent time management, communication, decision-maki
