About GSK's Global Health Team GSK’s Global Health team is dedicated to changing the trajectory of high-burden diseases in lower-income countries by focusing on the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. This mission is executed through a three-pronged approach: Global Health R&D, Access, and Health Systems Strengthening.
Role Overview
The Global Health Medicines R&D Finance Partner will be instrumental in maximizing the impact of our medicines R&D pipeline and supporting GSK’s trust agenda, which aims to impact 2.5 billion people, including 1.3 billion through Global Health access initiatives. This role involves close collaboration with the VP of Global Health Medicines R&D and their leadership team. The successful candidate will provide strategic financial insights, drive financial discipline within the R&D unit, and oversee the financials of the local entity. The position is based in Tres Cantos, Spain, to facilitate daily interaction with the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide financial leadership and strategic insights to the Global Health Medicines R&D (GHMRD) team, supporting the development and execution of R&D projects.
- Collaborate with GHMRD leaders to develop budgets, manage costs, and identify opportunities for financial optimization. Support team with prioritization and focus to maximize impact. Develop and implement financial models and forecasts to aid R&D decision-making processes.
- Oversee and manage the financial activities of the local entity, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and standards. Liaise with internal and external auditors to ensure the transparency and compliance of financial operations in local entity.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Deliver rolling forecasts at business unit level to support budgeting processes.
- Contribute to financial risk management within the R&D department, identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Drive financial discipline within the GHMRD team, promoting a culture of cost-consciousness and financial responsibility.

Basic qualifications
- University degree (BSc) or equivalent in Finance / Accounting.
- Fluent in English and in Spanish.
- Previous Finance Ex
- Strong leadership capabilities and excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to drive financial discipline and accountability and with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely. Strong ethical judgment and integrity.
- Excellent financial modelling and forecasting skills, with the ability to recommend sound financial decisions.
- Experience overseeing entity financials, interacting with financial auditors, and support accounting teams based in international locations.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience preferably within the pharmaceutical industry and preferably in an R&D finance role
- Proven stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience in navigating ERPs (SAP), data visualization tools (Power BI) and early adopter of new ways of working with Gen AI tools.
- Knowledgeable in local tax and accounting principles (Spain).
- A professional accounting qualification (CPA, CMA, ACCA, etc.) is preferred.
