The Multi-Product Power & Digital (MPD) department designs FPGAs, circuit cards, and electronics subassemblies for a range of products including missiles/effectors, radars, and electronic warfare systems. The team leverages digital, analog, and power design skills to provide support throughout the product lifecycle from architecture and design through production and sustainment.
We are currently seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer, with strong technical leadership ability, to function as the Backend Electronics Lead for a fixed-site radar system. The Backend Electronics Lead will join the Multi-Function Radio Frequency System (MFRFS) Engineering team in McKinney, TX and have product responsibility for the Array Backend Electronics Unit (ABEU), a mixed signal box that receives RF signals and converts the signals to the digital domain.
This position is an onsite role, located in McKinney, TX.
What You Will Do
Interface between the program engineering and program management to the ABEU team supporting test and design
Communicate with the ABEU team on technical issues and assist with prioritization of addressing technical issues
Coordinate the status of the technical issues with the program technical leadership team
Assist the ABEU team with build, design, and troubleshooting as needed
Drive requirements development and design updates from the program perspective to the ABEU design team
Work with the ABEU factory build team to understand the build process and to assist in the optimization of the ABEU build through the factory
Support the design, requirements and development of the ABEU replacement due to obsolescence with a cross-functional team including RF design, electronics design, mechanical design, and systems engineering.
Support the sustainment team and assist SMEs in the evaluation of repaired ABEUs for return to the field Planning and coordinating hardware design efforts
Occasional travel opportunities may be required to support our customers at various sites.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience
Technical leadership experience, including the ability to lead the resolution of tough technical challenges
Electrical hardware design and development experience including design standard adherence
Experience with production of a new and/or significantly evolved RF and/or digital modules
Qualifications We Value
One or more advanced degrees in Electrical Engineering or a related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major.
Specific experience with the design, development, and production of complex military electronics subsystems
Broad-based technical background with the ability to lead complex technical projects
Ability to maintain high performance in a highly dynamic, team based environment
Understanding the latest technology trends in the area of microprocessor, memory, FPGA and interface protocols
Ability to assimilate inputs from multiple sources and derive design and operational requirements
Developing associated architectures, implementing design, performing analysis and testing of modules and/or sub-systems in a laboratory setting
Digital, analog and/or RF testing; debugging complex circuit card assemblies (CCAs) or electro-mechanical systems
Understanding of CCA design and manufacturing
