WBNS-10TV, central Ohio's longtime news leader, is searching for a Digital Content Producer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a vision for what local news can and should be in the digital, social, and streaming spaces. This person will have an audience-first approach to produce and distribute 10TV editorial content across multiple 24/7 platforms. Must be a strong writer and great teammate who is enthusiastic about optimizing user experiences on all screens.

Responsibilities

  • Discover, research, create and distribute digital content across all 10TV owned-and-operated products and branded platforms.
  • Produce valuable storytelling experiences using the written word, videos, photos, social media, streaming, and interactive elements.
  • Focus on accuracy and balance in articles and social content through copy-editing and staff training.
  • Use tools to monitor social chatter and track trending stories. Communicate to newsroom.
  • Urgently, aggressively, and accurately report breaking news as it happens using all methods of distribution.
  • Increase content consumption by using search engine optimization (SEO) best practices, as well as strategic web/app management, app notifications and advanced social media skills.
  • Work with all newsroom workgroups and station departments on multiplatform coverage and other initiatives.
  • Will be trained to handle assignment desk operations, including but not limited to listening to scanners, dispatching crews, and information intake/distribution.
  • Use digital and social analytics to inform editorial decisions.
  • Ensure newsroom always upholds journalistic integrity and delivers on the 10TV brand promise.

Requirements

  • Degree in journalism, communications, or related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience working as a news content digital producer preferred.
  • Excellent AP Style writing, editing, proofreading, and copy-editing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • At least basic video and graphic production skills and knowledge.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage requests from various sources while also working well with varied personalities.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Sound news judgment and ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Interest in digital metrics with experience in Google Analytics preferred.
  • Applicants must take and pass a writing/copy editing test.
