Behavior Specialist-PRN

Summary:

The Behavior Specialist is responsible for conducting Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with patients within Rogers Behavioral Health treatment programs as detailed. Behavior specialists train and work with the assigned clinical leader to design and implement CBT specific treatment plans to address presenting symptoms.

This is a PRN (as needed) position.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide cognitive behavioral and other therapeutic services including groups to patients, according to clinical standards of care and under the supervision of the Clinical leader.
• Participate in weekly supervision sessions with the Clinical leader and communicate with them  on an ongoing basis regarding clinical issues.
• Assure documentation of therapeutic treatment plans, outcome assessments, psychosocial information, and other patient care data is completed within the medical record. Additional documentation may be completed under close supervision of the Clinical leader within SUD programs.
• Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and assist in development of the treatment .
• Offer training support to other staff members less familiar with the cognitive treatment interventions.
• Document mental health services according to applicable regulations and payer expectations.
• Complete all relevant training as directed within timeline established by leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical/Mental Demands:

• Strong interpersonal skills are needed, due to interaction with patients and professional staff.
• Must be able to work independently and complete assignments within specified timeframes.
• Must be highly proficient in verbal and written communication skills.
• Position requires walking, sitting, and standing. Lifting is moderate; must be capable of lifting a minimum of twenty (20) pounds. Reaching, handling, grasping and manual dexterity are necessary to operate various pieces of office equipment. Stooping, bending, kneeling and flexible movements are required to work with orientation equipment.
• Verbal and hearing ability is required to interact with patients and employees. Numerical ability is required to maintain records and operate a computer.
• Be able to plan, control and direct all aspects of employee relations. Tact is required to deal effectively with staff. Logical thinking and discretion are required to make decisions in initiating and implementing policies and procedures and standards.
• Must be able to read and communicate through written, verbal, and auditory skills and abilities.
• Physically/Mentally able to perform job duties as verified by a physical exam by a licensed physician, according to a post-employment physical.

Education/Training Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree required (human services, psychology, social work, or related field).
• Relevant Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment (CBT) experience (12 months preferred). Relevant experience may include clinical care, human services, or educational equivalent.
• For Residential programs – Must hold a current and active driver's license and be in good standing. (preferred for all levels of care)

Additional requirements for SUD programs:

• Bachelor’s Degree required (human services, psychology, social work, or related field).
• Must hold valid Substance Abuse credential (or state equivalent).

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:

Formal training will be provided for the following:

• American Heart Association CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
• Training in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) within 60 days of hire.
• Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF) trainings within 90 days of hire.
• NCI training is provided and required within sixty (60) days of the date of hire/transfer. Annual re- certification is required.
• Compliance with Residential Care Center (RCC) and Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF). Required for Residential, preferred for all levels of care.
